Buffalo AKG Art Museum

1285 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, NY 14222
Overview
Our team played a critical role in the construction of the new Buffalo AKG Art Museum on Elmwood Avenue, delivering comprehensive below-grade waterproofing solutions.
We installed 28,000 square feet of Preprufe 300R Plus below slab/blindside foundation waterproofing, along with 15,000 square feet of Preprufe 800 PA post-applied, peel-and-stick foundation waterproofing. The parking garage required extensive waterproofing, including 32,000 square feet of Florprufe 120 slab waterproofing, 10,000 square feet of Procor 75 spray-applied waterproofing on the walls, and 32,000 square feet of Procor 3R spray-applied waterproofing at the roof slab.
A major challenge arose when an aquifer was encountered 28 feet below grade, leading to continuous flooding that delayed the excavation process. Despite these setbacks, the combined perseverance of the design team, project management team, and contractors ensured the successful completion of this world-class facility.
