How do you determine which sealant is right for my building?
When sealing exterior building joints, we typically consider two main types of sealants — silicone and polyurethane. Each has its advantages depending on the building conditions and performance requirements.
Silicone sealants offer the longest service life and excellent UV resistance, making them ideal for long-term durability. However, they can be more limited in color options and may not always be compatible with urethane-based coatings already on the building.
Polyurethane sealants have a higher durometer (hardness), making them more resistant to punctures and wear, especially on horizontal or high-traffic surfaces. They’re also available in a wider range of colors.
We evaluate your building’s substrates, exposure conditions, and coating compatibility to select the best sealant system for long-term performance and aesthetics.
